I’M NEW, WHERE DO I START?
The most challenging part about the sport of karting for new people is getting into it. What to do… where to go… what to buy… so many different classes! It can be somewhat overwhelming and possibly confusing at first, so we will do our best to simplify the process as much as possible. Below are the steps we recommend when first planning on getting into the sport:
Come to one of our club race events and check it out for yourself.
See it in person. See the racing yourself to make sure it is something you are truly interested in doing. Meet some of the racers. Don’t be afraid to ask them any questions you might have about the club or just the sport of karting in general.
Build a relationship with a local dealer
Your local dealer is there to help! They have been in the sport for a while and are super passionate about what they do. Listen to everything they teach you. They’ll be your best resource as you get started in the sport.
What class do I start in?
We recommend starting in an Ignite or Briggs 206 class. Both are as beginner friendly as it gets in the sport of kart racing. The Ignite classes are a great option for beginners since everyone is on the same chassis. It minimizes some variables that the driver needs to worry about and instead can focus more on driving and learning most of the basics of kart racing.
The Briggs 206 classes are also great to get into. They use the same engine as Ignite, but allows any chassis to compete and is on a softer spec tire than the Ignite classes as well. The regular 206 classes are also a great option since they will generally have more grip with the softer tires, and the ability to choose between different kart chassis allows drivers to maybe get something that suits their driving style or setup tuning preferences better.
