The Mid-State Kart Club would like to extend their gratitude towards those members and family members who put out great effort to promote karting with an entry in the Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade through downtown Springfield. Thanks also to Bill and Doug Canham for putting their fine graphics talents to use to help the club once again. And also thanks to Dennis McQuinn for assistance in preparing the engines on the arrive and drive karts that Nick and Jack drove. |
The Mall Show was very productive. A great amount of positive responses were fielded by the various members who donated their time to the effort spearheaded by Joe Brittin and Rick Fulks. Tom Tapocik provided transportation once again for the clubs back-drops and crafted some really nice markers describing the various karts. Russ Kemple manned the show both days from start to finish. Kirsten Mosley, Mark England, Daltyn England, Mike Curry, Paul Booth, Jim Rowe, Rita Rowe,Randy Fulks, Mark Coats, Richard Buecker, Tom Brinkman, Tim Brinkman, Jimmy Tapocik, Kris Tapocik, Jason Birdsell, Gina Codalata, Justin Vancil and family, Charles Adams ,Denise McQuinn, Gene Duncan, Dennis Kessinger, Dustin Kessinger, and John McQuinn all pitched in to answer questions and pass out information. A big THANK YOU to Margay Racing and Keith Freber for sponsoring this event. |
Rick Fulks has arranged for a kart show at White Oaks Mall on March 6th and 7th.
The event will be sponsored by Margay Racing Products. We will have a 15’ by 60’
area in the lower level Macy’s wing, just off center court. Margay will be bringing
about four karts and there will be room for 6 to 8 karts from the club. We are looking
for several members to display their clean and race ready karts for this weekend show.
We are looking for newer karts with fresh body work and graphics. It would be nice
to have a variety karts (Kid Karts, Jr. Sportsman, Sr. Yamaha, TAG and 4-Cycle/Blue Clone). Karts must be moved in on Friday March 5th at 9:00 pm and picked up on Sunday March 7th at 6:00 pm. No liquids will be allowed in the karts (fuel, oil or water). It is requested that drive chains be removed from the kart for safety reasons. TAG karts should remove their starting battery. A floor mat will be required to be placed under each kart. We will need volunteers to staff the display and answer questions. Show hours will be from 9 am to 9 pm on Sat. and 11 am to 6 pm on Sunday. We are also looking for kart racing DVDs to play during the show (does not have to be from Mid-State Raceway). Russ Kemple will be on the Channel 20 TV early morning show on March 3 (around 6:45 am). Tom Tapocik will join Rick Fulks on AM Springfield (The Sam Madonia Show) on Thursday, March 4th at approximately 8:00 AM. Joe Brittin is placing an ad in the Springfield Shopper and notifying the SJ-R newspaper. We have about 7 karts from club members committed so far plus 2 or 3 vintage karts from Paul Booth. We can accommodate more karts, however we will need more carpeting or floor mats under the karts. Mark Coats will let us use his nice black EZ-up for the display .We are looking for another floor mat. Green or black indoor/outdoor carpeting preferred. Please contact Joe Brittin if you are able to display your kart or can work a 3 to 4 hour shift. We would like a minimum of two members to staff the display during show hours. e-mail: joebrittin@sbcglobal.net phone: 217-741-7697 Downloadable Show Flyer |
